Long Glass Research Collective

Macro-scale quantum phenomena

LocationDuluth, Minnesota StatusActive DesignationAF-04
Mission

The Long Glass Research Collective studies quantum phenomena at the scale where people actually live. Mainstream physics holds that quantum effects vanish above the subatomic level. We have found that they do not so much vanish as go unexamined — and from our facility on the shore of Lake Superior, a body of water whose electromagnetic profile we find frankly remarkable, we examine them.

We are a small group, and we like it that way. Good observation, in our experience, is mostly a matter of patience, a comfortable chair, and the willingness to accept what the universe is telling you even when — especially when — it concerns your toast.

The Team

Dr. Wendell Craine

Dr. Wendell Craine

Lead Researcher / Founder

Wendell taught physics to high school students for twenty-two years before an inheritance allowed him to pursue the questions his curriculum never had room for. He is a patient observer, a generous correspondent, and the author of the collective’s warm, widely read papers. He asks that visitors not be alarmed by the number of clocks.

Patrice 'Patch' Moreau

Patrice “Patch” Moreau

Research Partner / Simulations

Patch crossed over from Thunder Bay, Ontario, some years ago and has remained, a decision he revisits annually and reaffirms. A self-taught programmer, he builds the collective’s simulation environments, which have been praised at every symposium as the most visually compelling work in the consortium. The simulations confirm Wendell’s theories in every run configured to do so, which is all of them.

Cross-Group Connections

  • Wanderline Research (AF-08) — Wendell is the only member of the consortium whom Dr. Massey telephones voluntarily. Their conversations are long, unhurried, and treasured by at least one participant, though Wendell suspects both.
  • Silver Veil Optics (AF-07) — Wendell and Callum Briggs maintain an email correspondence on perception and observation that has reached, by Callum’s count, 340,000 words. Neither considers it finished.
  • Phase Collective (AF-10) — Fern Alcott sends Wendell a Christmas card every year. Wendell has kept all of them. They are filed by year, then re-filed by warmth.
  • Threshold Dynamics (AF-02) — Patch and Dale Hutchins occasionally collaborate on equipment. The equipment works, which both men have agreed not to overanalyze.
